Lovely Czech Pin with Big Blue Sapphire Glass Stone. All you need for the center of that cream silk shirt is this pretty little brooch marked on a plaque in back "CZECHO." This genuine vintage beauty from old Czechoslovakia may have been made in the 1930s-40's before WWII. Based in an oval shaped golden filigree design, the 1" wide stone is set within not only a bezel but also in filigree prongs. The entire brooch is 1 5/8" wide by 1 1/4". The surrounding stones are lighter blue, but on close inspection one looks a bit darker than the others. Very Good condition. $42 |

Hand-Painted Wild Roses Large Belt or Sash Pin~ Your old fashioned girl will treasure this exceptionally large and well-cared for example of American hand painted porcelain, which was popular for about 40 years from late Victorian era through the 1920s. And imagine how she will look wearing this belt brooch with a black silk sash to cinch her waist around her throat. The elongated oval porcelain is 2 3/4" tall and a bit less than 2" wide. On polychrome glazes of blended blues and faint yellows are three wild roses done in light and dark pinks with yellow & brown accents against foliage of several shades of green, with colors still bright and overglaze smooth and clean. The porcelain is prong set in a brass setting that still has some of it's gilding. Closes with an open C-clasp. Excellent condition. $65 |

Sterling Filigree Butterfly Brooch Circa 1950. A Victorian Revival piece, the sterling lacy twists and turns on this piece are fascinating. No markings, but tests as sterling. Well made and heavier for it's size than you might think. It is indeed a mystery; on the lower left side there is a square marking resembling a maker's mark; it looks like a man standing holding branch, and another figure opposite. On the back opposite is a blank place. I wish I had time too look up the mark, but the butterfly is really unusual and lovely, standing on it's own. The ruffled wingspan is 2 1/2" and the butterfly is 1 3/4" from top of antennae. The rolling safety clasp pin mechanism is soldered on with a curved V-bar. Very Good++ condition. $58 |

Painted
Porcelain Scene Brooch with Filigree and Emerald Green Rhinestone Pastes
You can always count on high quality rhinestones in H. Pomerantz jewelry, and this large brooch is no exception; the high quality emerald green pastes seem to have the secret of eternal youth-- as dazzling as if they weren't 70 years old. The larger stones are unfoiled and prong set openback into the antique silver look beaded filigree dome shaped metal frame; the smaller chatons add small sparkles from tiny cups. The oval porcelain is prong set in a beaded setting. The scene is a transfer which is embellished with hand painted brown accents . At 3 1/4" tall and 2 3/8" wide the dome shaped brooch rises about 1/2" from the pinstem; it clasps with an early safety clasp that is quite secure. Signed in back H. Pomerantz Inc. N.Y. Very Good condition. Enjoy for $110 |

Unsigned Coro Red & Green Enameled Floral with Pave Rhinestones. Here's a colorful, big pot metal beauty from 1940 which is clearly a Coro design. See here the Adolph Katz patent drawing; our brooch is exactly the same design. I think this is a true Coro classic; if it were a doubt a vintage knock off, many more of this design would be seen, like the ubiquitous big cockatoos. The flowers appears to lilies, painted red just in time for the holidays and bursting with clear rhinestone stamens. Green enameled leaves are also accented by pave stones, as well as the ribbon that wraps the gay bouquet. The brooch is a bit over 4" tall and 2 1/2" wide at the widest point. The brooch is very well made and heavy for it's size; plan on wearing it on a jacket lapel or on a coat, or on another heavy fabric. These heavy old brooches can be reinforced by pinning into a bra strap. Uncommonly nice condition, with only a bit of enamel wear along the edges of the red flowers; any wear on the green leaves can be seen only under magnification. In addition, the stones are still bright and twinkling. The pot metal has a silver colored plating which is basically intact, with visible wear only on the lower part of the stems. Enjoy this well cared for antique Coro beauty in Very Good condition and priced like any other unsigned piece of this age, size and beauty. $125 |

Rare Weiss Painted Enamel Egg Brooch In years of buying costume jewelry, I have seen only one other enameled egg by Weiss; it was pink and it was already sold. This is a rare pin, probably made in the late 1960's, just before Weiss closed its doors. Weiss made a some highly collectible enameled pieces during those years, some of which are now being counterfeited; real ones, except for some of the enameled flower power pins, are all fairly hard to find. This one does have a textured back; but the texture is different from the kind found on the counterfeits. The basic color is red, crossed on the diagonal with gold tone lines, making diamond motifs in which white flowers with green foliage are enameled. This unique brooch measures 2 1/4" tall x 1 1/2 wide" and stands 3/4" high from the surface. There is a small amount of wear to the enamel that can be seen with a loupe but nothing substantial. Very Good condition. Signed (c)Weiss in an oval in back. $135 |

Large NE Pink& Green Enameled
Floral Brooch Circa 1935, with classic pink-and-green color scheme of the late 30s through 40s.From pictures to draperies, Grandma had it all, swans, storks, wide tropical leaves--and, best of all, on enameled jewels. You just can't go wrong with the cozy beauty, colors and collectibility of this pot metal brooch. Three pink enameled flowers are centered with pink rhinestone florets atop green enameled leafy stems, accented with clear chatons. The flowers climb up a black enameled lattice. The blue cabochon is the original but painted green at one time, noted by remnants of green around the edges. This brooch is very well preserved, with less than usual wear on the enamel. The two rhinestones under the lower left pink flower have been replaced. Dimensions cover a big 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" area for a buxom swell of vintage color! Signed NE in chalice. Brooch is just barely in very good condition. $65 |

Large Hand-Painted Porcelain Brooch with Violets. At the time these beauties were made, the large ones were called "belt pins." This thick, heavy beauty was probably painted for the Victorian understanding of the meaning of Violets, faithfulness, and perhaps given as a gift, as was the custom then. The flowers and dark green foliage are painted over very subtle glazes of yellow, pink, ivory and green, and glazed at the top three-quarters with a curtain of matte gold glaze. The porcelain is prong set in it's original brass fitting and fastens with an open C-clasp. Very Good condition. Dimensions are 2 5/8" tall x 2" wide. Very Good condition. $68 |

Florenza Pink & Purple Bow With enameled jewelry you can add a splash of color and infinite interest to a daytime outfit without adding a lot of glitz. Here is a pin by Florenza with several unique delights. In the center are little pink & purple soft appendages to look like the center of a flower or sea anemone. Don't ask me the material--I don't think it is plastic; it looks and feels like a natural substance. If anyone knows, please email me. From the center is a burst of overlapping loops painted pink and purple and tipped with gold, reminding me of butterfly wings. Measurements are 2 1/4" wide x 1 1/4". Pin is signed FLORENZA(c) in back on a raised oblong. Excellent condition. $35 |
