| H. Pomerantz Herman Pomerantz produced belt buckles, buttons, and jewelry from the 19th century, possibly as early as the 1890s. The company continued until 1960. He patented several designs during the 1930s, and the patent drawings will soon be posted on this site. In the 19th century H. Pomerantz seems to have limited production to belts, buckles, book chains and buttons. I have an H. Pomerantz brooch with a C-clasp in my possession, but I believe it is a early 20th century piece. Pomerantz did make a great deal of very large Victorian Revival jewelry circa 1930. H. Pomerantz jewelry with textured backs and AB rhinestones were made circa 1960. There are at least 4 signatures: "H. Pomerantz & Co. N.Y.," "H. Pomerantz Inc. N.Y.," "H. Pomerantz Co." and just "H. Pomerantz." Some try to date the jewelry by the signatures, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to them. Anyone who has information otherwise, please contact me. Thank you. I am currently researching H. Pomerantz accessories and jewelry and more information or corrections may be forthcoming. | |||

Big H. Pomerantz Crystal Rhinestone Brooch Circa 1940. Lavish yourself and onlookers in this large, brilliant diamante brooch! In a setting style often seen in 1930s jewelry, brilliant round clear pastes sparkle from boat shaped (Marquise) cups. This multilayered bursting floral starts with a base that represents leaves. Perched above is a six-petaled floweret topped with a 6mm chaton. On the reverse side, you can see the stones are set openback in rhodium plated base metal with a riveted safety clasp. This 3" x 2 1/2" jewel is signed twice, H. POMERANTZ & CO N.Y, and is Very Good condition. Some of the smaller stones, viewed under magnification, are a bit cloudy or darkened around edges, but they still strike sparks! This type of brooch is absolutely stunning on black and jewel colors, but will also stand out on prints. Enjoy for $68. |

H. Pomerantz Large Brooch with BIG Red Cabochons SOLD This unique jewel is not only glorious but also an interesting example of late 1940' jewelry styles, with Victorian revival elements coupled with Retro Modern military emblem design. Huge red glass cabs--the largest is 1 1/4" in diameter and nearly 1/4" thick--are riveted onto brass floral settings and attached with a golden mesh band. Victorianesque 1 3/8" brass pendant beads dangle from brass chain. Note the curved corners on the floral settings. In 1946, Herman Pomerantz filed a patent on the design, D147420, with the patent issued Sept. 2, 1947. The brooch is 4 1/2" total length and 1 5/8" wide at the widest point. It is signed on the back HPomeantz Inc. N.Y. Very Good ++ condition, with a very little wear on the back. |

H. Pomerantz Antique Celtic Knight Belt & Buckle Circa 1890. A very unusual find intact. I have seen a photo of another H. Pomerantz warrior buckle--a Samurai. Perhaps H. Pomerantz made an entire line of warrior belts. If so, it would be quite a challenge to collect them all. The 3" x 2" buckle is of shining silvertone and gilded openwork stamped with clovers, vines, & various textures. There are also applied metal embellishments, including the centerpiece bearded Celtic knight, his armor designed in a convex cross shape. He rises about 1/2" high; at first I thought it might open, locket style, but there are no hinges. The belt itself is made of a remarkable gold tone flexible tank-track style engraved linkage, about 1 inch wide. The belt clasps at 28-30." The buckle can be removed of course, to add to another belt if desired. Belt and buckle are both in Very Good condition; there's a bit minor wear on the gilding showing through silvertone. The blackish color is tarnish on the back of the buckle and in depressions. Marked H.POMERANTZ & CO. N.Y. $125.00 |

Fabulous, HUGE H. Pomerantz
Peacock or Bird of Paradise Brooch SOLD Circa 1930. Rare. I was pleased to find this incredibly well made cast metal enamel & paste peacock, known by many to be a bird of paradise. What an attention getter--what a conversation piece! As solid and gorgeous as any of the famous designer birds of this era, this 5 3/8" long bird, similar in design to the Boucher giant peacock/bird of paradise, will never be forgotten by those who see it. Red and Black enamel accented by sparkling pastes decorate the textured metal--note the textured back just below the bird's neck, the beaded claw foot, the looping tail feathers. The feathers flow out in 3 1/2" spread of extravagant raiment, layers and curves with glinting beaded metal work in the extremities. Note the curved beak, the head feathers, and the red rhinestone eye. The smooth finish inside has developed a glowing, rich patina. Signed H. Pomerantz Inc. N.Y. Condition is near Excellent; I need magnification to see minor spotting and wear in the enamel; the old-fashioned pastes still busily flash & shimmer. |
