Avon Peacock Brooch Huge

Reverse

Huge, Exotic Avon Peacock Brooch Like New in Box

With a 2004 date, this pin is not very vintage; however Avon has discontinued making it and it's time for you to have a treat! Avon really outdid themselves when they created this sweeping peacock! Jeweltone rhinestones and more rhinestones--this fabulous brooch is made of colorful stones of teal, rose, midnight blue, purple and dark blue and rose aurora borealis AB navettes and a dangling tail of chained crystals and beads. The setting is dark gunmetal, giving a midnight mystery aura to this imperial bird. Total length including the tail is 7", width at the branch is 2 1/2". This brooch has never been worn and is still in the original box. There is no image of the box because it's shiny metallic finish won't scan--it turns into a dark gray square! But the box is dark silvery blue with a silver "A" and in Very Good condition. The brooch is signed on the back "Avon" with the Canada mark beneath. Bird is in Excellent condition $48

Pell AB Aurora Borealis Rhinestone Owl Pin

This guy thinks he's important because a clear rhinestone version of him featured in Nancy Schiffer's Costume Jewelry: The Fun of Collecting, page 111. This adorable little fella has big green rhinestone eyes. He looks pretty flashy in his pave rhinestone coat--all AB crystals,  including the little baguettes inlaid  in the branch he sits upon, and those crystals spark out pastel colors in the environment. And, oh, what a fresh little sparkler he is! At 2 1/4" tall, he's got a big appetite for admiration and wants you to bring him home. Signed (c)PELL, he's in Excellent condition. $40

Rare pony brooch

Adorable, Lively Vintage Pony Brooch

Rare. Attributed to Coro. He's doing what ponies love, prancing wild in a flower-strewn meadow of yellow enameled flowers with green leaves and faux pearls. Decked out with rhinestones in him mane and tail, he holds in his teeth a pink enameled jeweled rose for his lady. He deserves to be worn, and it breaks my heart to have to part with him.

At 3 1/4" tall and 2 1/2" at the widest, he's a big boy from the early 1950s, around the time Coro was making their pretty horses. I think this brooch is a lost Coro, unsigned--I've seen the same bubbly pearl, pink & green enameled design on earrings signed by Coro. He's high quality with good heft, made from thick cast metal finished with golden plating. The near-Excellent condition is remarkable--I could not find any wear in the plating on the front, and on the back, only a bit along the edges. Rhinestones are bright and faux pearls are faultless. You (and I) may never find another like him. $125

Egyptian Revival Enamel Falcon Pectoral Necklace

Late 1960s-1970s was the heyday of ethnic revival, and the Egyptian Revival pectorals-- large, wide pendants worn by men and women alike--were popular. The bigger and more colorful the jewel,  the better. The falcon is a symbol of the Egyptian deity, Horus, said to be the sky, containing the sun (rising above the falcon's head) and moon. The enamels pool into low recesses in the metal, resulting in a look similar to champleve. Similar necklaces are still being imported from Egypt, but this gorgeous gold plated beauty is vintage; We've had it in our collection for years, stored away snugly in  a cotton lined drawer. Pendant enameled in sky blue, carnelian and lapis blue. this handsome costume piece measures 4 1/2" W X 4 1/4" tall and hangs from 25" of beautiful, lacy box chain. Unmarked, this remarkable Egyptian jewel was probably purchased in Egypt by a traveler. Imported pieces are always be marked, though newer versions have woven labels stuck on. Excellent condition. Would make a fine gift for him.$55
