This very well built sailboat pin is done in prong set crystal chatons and baguettes on silvertone wire. Lovely design and craftsmanship, sparkly stones. Marked Made in Austria in back. Finish in back is a little rough, but all stones are present and striking sparks, like starlight moving across the evening sea. Measurements are

B. David Mother's Rhinestone Earrings

Screw on findings. These twinkling earrings are the mate to one of the B. David Mother's crown pins. These earrings display crystal teardrops and chatons are accented by ruby red, emerald green, amber topz and sapphire blue, with all stones prong set in rhodium. Only 3/4" in diameter, they pack plenty of scintillating color and light. Excellent condition. Signed 'b. david' on the top of the screw on findings. $22

These tiny earrings are shaped like wee fleur de lis, done in prong set AB crystal navettes, chatons and baguettes. It's a wonder all that variety could fit in the 5/8" rhodium plated clip on setting, but there it is, flashing like a miracle! Classic clip back has embossed decorations and is signed B. David. If you love Barclay, you'll notice that some of their designs and metalwork is similar to Trifari jewels, with goldtone metals get that warm glow that comes with age. This bracelet is such a design, with each 1 1/8" wide link a sweeping Art Moderne beribboned bouquet of crystal chatons and red baguettes. The gold tone finish is rich, and the bracelet comes complete with safety chain. It clasps at 7" with a foldover clasp signed Barclay in script. Condition is Very Good, with wear on some of the finish in back. Rhinestones are complete and sparkling. Enjoy this old time beauty. $58

SOLDThere is much going on design-wise in this late1940s clip earrings set. Particularly endearing is the track design and splayed fan, motifs seen regularly in post WWII Retro jewelry . Fantasy flowers set with ruby red rhinestones are still brilliant and sparkling, as the rhinestone studded fan above. All but the center flower petals, are prong set in lovely aged goldtone. These delightful jewels are are 1 1/4" tall x 7/8" wide at the widest part, and signed Barclay in script on the clips. There is probably a matching necklace waiting out there--just for you! Wouldn't it be fun to find? The earrings have bright rhinestones and tight clips. Very Good condition, with minor wear of finish in back.

Beaujewels Bowman & Foster went out of business in the 1970's. These jewels are always beautiful. The ones I have seen are made with riveted backings. This kind of construction is NOT unique--many costume jewelers used it, particularly during the late 1940's and 1950's including Weiss, Coro, and Judy Lee. Don't accept an unsigned brooch as Beaujewels unless you have seen the signed earrings.

Les Bernard The former Vogue jewelry company, in business since 1938, became Les Bernard in 1963. See Ann Pitman's section on Les Bernard jewelry in her book INSIDE THE JEWELRY BOX, first volume. Jewelry is high in quality, and offered many imaginative designs throughout the 1960's. This jewelry house closed in 1996. More coming soon!

Bogoff~ 1946 to 1970. Made high quality jewelry, mainly rhinestone sets, but this designer also used pearls, beads, and metals. This is a scarce, highly sought after signature.

Bonetto This company made beautiful ladies' hinged bangle watches, rhinestone watches and watch pins during the 1970s and 1980s as well as collectible clocks. Many of these, particularly the ladies, appear to have been put together by hand. Bonetto today is producing watch rings, so these lovely collectible clocks and watches of the '70's and 1980's are long gone, unless you get lucky. Sorry, Sold Out

Big Blue Flower Bud Brooch Signed BSK

If you love vintage florals but appreciate something a little different, this BKS blue beauty is for you. Gold tone filigree leaves hold a large Lucite bud (no seams) with green magenta, and other shades of blue floating inside. Another bud is represented by a faux pearl, and both are accented by pave crystal rhinestones. BSK Dragonfly AB Rhinestone Pin

Somewhat stylized, or modernistic, but filled with Aurora Borealis rhinestones in a silvertone setting, you get femininity without too much folderol. With green eyes, a red upper body, and openwork wings and tail set with brilliant crystal ABs, there will be color and flash, without the ostentation of a huge jewels. This delicate sweetheart measures 2 1/8" a the wingspan and is 1 7/8" tall, as well as being in Excellent, like new condition. Signed BSK in back. Wear and enjoy this truly investment jewel for $22

Want something simple but striking? Consider this beautifully textured golden pin by BSK. Possibly made as late as the circa1970, when tumbled natural gemstones were in style--some costume jewelers even made rhinestones and plastics look like tumbled gemstones--but the stone is a genuine, and this little fella is cute in his pointed leaf cap, sitting cross- legged with the big claw set jade green treasure. The pin measures 1-3/4" x 1-1/2" but seems a larger size due to the 3-dimensional construction, rising 3/4" from the pinstem. On the back is the signature BSK(c). The pin is in Excellent condition. $48

Cathe Art Glass Starfish Brooch Pendant

What a stylish starfish this is, perfect for summer at the beach or by the pool. Cathe is a hard to find signature, but those featuring fabulous art glass are the best! This one is crowded with glass cabs with streaks and clouds of mixed colors including, on each cab, bright icings of gold. The starfish "feet" point this way and that, invoking the fun and leisure of summer's days. Even the gold tone setting sparkles with texture, golden beads, and aurora borealis rhinestones. The 2 1/2" pendant comes on a 17 1/2" chain, but it also has a pin mechanism so you can remove the chain and wear as a brooch. Signed Cathe in an oblong plaque, there is a little sunshine symbol as part of the signature; perhaps this pendant/brooch is from a special summer line. Excellent condition. $58

These clip on earrings match with a beautiful necklace that we hope to find some day--or maybe you have it! Even without it, the earrings stand alone as an example of 1950's bright beaded styles. The blue beads are ceramic and decorated with dimpled gold & silver indentations; the faceted white beads are plastic all wired to a double goldtone filigree. The earrings are 1 1/4" in diameter and signed Alice Caviness, no copyright marks, on the clips. Excellent condition. $24

Czechoslovakia

Dress for springtime and summer in this vintage nosegay pin from old Czechoslovakia. In bright gold tone, tiers of flowers, leaves and rhinestone buds blend together prettily. The flower is in two shades of pink, enameled to leave the edges gold; the same technique is used in the leaves, pale green with painted veins and shining gold edges. Gold tone wire leaes to prong set oval rhinestones in red, blue, purple, turquoise and sapphire blue. This pin is 2 1/4" tall; the enamels are amazingly intact. The rhinestones, although the foil is undamaged, appear to be aging, but they are still colorful and strike sassy sparks. Marked in back on an applied oval, CZECHO. Very good condition. $44

Not marked. This wonderful openwork pin was purchased by me from a seller in Czechoslovakia, and, due to it's style and color, I believe it is from old Bohemia. Aqua blue European cut pastes are prong set into a 6 sided bar frame, while the smaller fire colored pastes are positioned in beaded arrow or double leaf motifs along the edges. One central ruby red paste, secured in a delicately beaded bezel, sits in the middle of a chased and beaded setting between brass scrolls.

The brooch measures 2.25" horizontally and 1.25" vertically. Metals appear to be brass and copper base with silver overlay. This brilliant pin is in Very Good condition, with wear on the silver plating in back. Clasps with an open C-hook. $95

Charel Charel is best known for Art Moderne Lucite thermoset jewelry of the 1950's. In my opinion, most jewelry marked Charel is is as well made as Lisner jewelry.

This Charel set is featured (in beige) on page 57 of Fred Rezazahdeh' s COSTUME JEWELRY. The design epitomizes the 1950s Art Moderne look, with it's clean simple lines. The color is absolutely breathtaking and bound to draw compliments. The set is quite versatile for daytime, casual evening, or weekend wear, to add a splash of intense, cool color to your outfits. Thermoset tube shaped inserts are set in a bright chrome base. The bracelet clasps with a foldover at 6 3/4" for a small or small-medium wrist. The matching clip on earrings are 1" tall and slightly curved. These jewels are in Excellent, pristine condition; they may have never been worn. All pieces are signed CHAREL and (c)CHAREL. $48
