Remember Hostess Snowballs? They were double packs of round cakes covered in a marshmallow coating with snow like candies or coconut on top. They had pink ones just like the beads in this necklace and the earrings! What a confection of lovely shades of pink. The faux pearls are a dusky salmon pink; the snowball beads are made of coral glass dashed with white paint for the snowball effect. The double strand necklace is adjustable up to 16"; and see how the strand connect to the bow shaped terminals--only in the 1950's would you have piece like this. The J hook also sports a single rhinestone. Earrings are dome shaped, about 7/8" in diameter. Everything is in Excellent condition. All pieces are signed MARVELLA(c) $68

Back in the 1950's, someone wore this necklace to rock around the clock. Bring out the saddle shoes and the poodle skirt! Well made and heavy for it's size, partly graduated plastic faux pearls measure in at 20MM, or about 2/3" diameter, vying for attention with high quality glass crystal beads of pure pink! This necklace clasps at a maximum of 17 1/2" with an adjustable J-hook complete with a rhinestone sparkling on the end! Condition is Very Good, with no peeling pearls or cracked crystals though one pearl, the third from the J-hook, has a small nick. This beauty has aged well, and it's yours for $38

Here's a unique statement brooch than can be worn to proclaim your celtic heritage, would make a nice gift for both men & women. In fact, my husband collects these and pins them to his hat; they can also be used as tie clasps. Brooches by Miracle are always great investments, and this one comes on it's original plaid card with a statement on the origin of talisman brooches. The brooch is a bit over 3" long with a 1" medallion in the center, decorated with a glass faux agate. Signed MIRACLE just on the rim of the medallion, so it's hard to find, but it's there. Monet Silver Vermeil Retro Link Bracelet & Dress Clip Set

This Monet set is as high in quality in any other costume jewelry you can find from this era, dated sometime in the 1940s, with the look of old gold and precious stones without the price. Our tests reveal that the metal is 800 coin silver with 10k heavy gold plating. The style is retro modern with repeated step patterns, sleek angles andand high dark ruby or garnet glass cabochons in serrated settings, and in the dress clips they are unfoiled and set openback. The jewels, especially the dress clips, are solid and heavy for their size. Clasping at 6 3/4" with a spring ring, and 1/2" wide, the  bracelet is for a small to medium-small wrist. The dress clips measure 1 1/2" each. These jewels are top of the line costume jewelry in Excellent condition. Each piece is signed MONET in block letters with the little mark over the E. Simple, elegant, and absolutely gorgeous, this high quality vintage crystal necklace will help you feel glamorous for party, wedding or prom. Pink barrel shaped crystals alternate with sleek rock candy bicones and faceted round crystals,, all of which have subtle Aurora Borealis coating catching light and winking rainbow colors around your face. All this is accented by golden filigree crystal rhinestone roundels. The necklace closes at 17" with an early lobster type clasp, not the big thick ones of today, but a slender one patented by Monet in 1974. Both clasp ends are signed MONET. Here's a bunch of fun in the big, lavish fun Monet elephant brooch complete with 3-D tusk. This highly detailed figural brooch features a textured elephant, with one polished golden tusk. He wears an ornate, enameled red and dark blue beaded saddle with applied goldtone wire squiggles. His trunk is up, meaning good luck, and he holds a delightful faux pearl. Signed (c)MONET. Napier Napier has been in business since the 19th century, and has always produced high quality costume jewelry. But the early Napier is very hard to find and usually commands high prices. Pat. Pending pieces made prior to 1955 are more affordable and greatly treasured.Napier closed in 1999.

These jewels marked "Pat. Pend." along with the NAPIER signature are always pre-1955.Old Napier Patent Pending bracelets, always very desirable, are getting harder to find in top condition. But we have for you this unusual demi; the 1" green oval glass beads are wrapped in thick, rich looking golden filigree. The scans failed to pick up the true colors, but the beads are transparent emerald green and seem to glow with life from within.The wrapped glass beads alternate with golden textured metal beads and clasp at 8 1/2" for a generous fit on a medium or large wrist. The matching clip on earrings, are, like the bracelet beads, 1".The earrings are signed NAPIER PAT. PEND., and the bracelet is signed NAPIER on the jump ring. All are in Excellent condition.   $74

Clip ons. These dazzling beauties did not scan well; there is much more of a color range flashing through the round brilliants and dangling prisms than shown. It's almost as if there is an inward glow separate from the light Aurora Borealis coating. The findings are silvertone, including flora bead caps for the prisms. Very well made, the 1 1/2" jewels are also in Excellent condition. The signature on the clip findings, NAPIER(c), in all block letters, indicates an older vintage Napier style. $24

Napier made some exquisite glass fruit pieces, and this brooch is one of them. The glass orange has a very realistic texture, and the goldtone leaves and flowers are wholly luxurious. This great, hard to find jewel is just under 1 3/4" tall and 1 1/2" wide at the widest point. Excellent, clean condition. Signed in back NAPIER(c) in block letters. $38

New England Glass Works Thanks to Dotty & Pat at Illusion Jewels, we have learned that the mysterious mark of NE or N/E with a chalice, or sometimes just the chalice, is the mark for costume jewelry by New England Glass Works, who made these jewels during the 1920's and 1930's, eventually becoming Rice-Weiner.

New England Glassworks Large Filigree Blue Rhinestone Bow Brooch

NE Glass works jewels are practically indestructible; one can usually find them in great condition even after 70-80 years! Here's an unusual offering of 1930's bow brooch constructed in tiers. The lacy dark filigree gunmetal is busy with loops, frill and beaded openwork raised flowers. It's hard to see in the images, but there's a base layer that steps up into the raised interior bow. The slender bow is 3 3/4" long and rises 3/4" above the pinstem and is set with sapphire blue oval faceted glass stones in beaded cups. Wouldn't it be jazzy to wear directly under the color of a blouse or shirtwaist, like a bow tie? Marked N/E in a chalice on the back, this brooch is in Very Good condition. $62

New England Glass Works Green Rhinestone Filigree Dress Clip Set 

My favorite jewelry era is the 1930s. The designs are so dear! These are the kind of jewels introduced to me while young, looking through my old grandmother's jewel box (she was born in 1886!,) and when you associate an era with someone you loved very much, it's easy to get hooked.Here is a set of dress clips featuring emerald green oval stones and round cabochons, and tiny accent stones, bead set into dark lacy filigree. The clips are dome shaped, like shields, and each measures 1 3/4" tall x 1 1/4" wide. The clips are signed inside with a chalice and the letters NE,signature of New England Glass works. Very Good condition. $68

This well made and colorful 1930s clip gleams with rich pink and sapphire blue round cabs at top and bottom, along with large oval sapphire blue, emerald green and ruby red rhinestones in serrated bezels. These are accented by small multicolor chatons still sparkling in elaborate dark metal filigree. The beaded floral openwork design is convex, rising in a partial dome above the clip mechanism. This wonderful old jewel is 1 3/4" tall and 1 1/2" wide. Marked N/E in a chalice, the signature of New England Glass Company jewels. Excellent condition! $48.

Incredible, Scarce Lucite Ice Tongs Full Parure

SOLD Unsigned but attributed to Park Lane; I've seen the sales card with a picture of the entire set, which is very, very hard to find these days. With chromium or chrome plated tongs, this is a tribute to the Art Moderne style from the 40s and 50s. If you have a library of costume jewelry books, you've seen the clear Lucite "ice" clasped by "tongs" in various formats. These, like many, are mechanical--the "ice" twirls in the tongs. The chunky necklace and bracelet Lucite cubes measure 3/4" x 3/4" on the broad sides, and both have silvertone chains--the bracelet has an S chain, and the necklace a cable chain, though the pieces are all definite mates. The necklace clasps at 18 1/2" with a spring ring clasp; the bracelet clasps with a foldover at a bit more than 7", to fit a medium wrist. The clip on earrings dangle 1 3/4". You will be so retro, so stylish, in this vintage moderne set. It may be a long time before you see another full parure, so if you've been wanting a set, better claim it now! Highly collectible. Everything is in Excellent, pristine condition.
