This gold plated Christmas Tree brooch offers genuine garnets set in little golden flowers. The star on top is also set with a garnet. In the pictures, the color & shadow differences are accentuated due to the fact that some of the garnets are fat and really stick out from the tree; others are flatter and appear a lighter color. Weiss Painted Enameled Egg Brooch This is a fairly hard to find pin, probably made in the late 1960's, just before Weiss closed its doors. Weiss made a some highly collectible enameled pieces during those years, some of which are now being counterfeited; real ones, except for some of the enameled flower power pins, are all fairly hard to find. This one does have a textured back; but the texture is different from the kind found on the counterfeits. You can see another yellow egg in Julia Carroll's COLLECTING COSTUME JEWELRY 303, page 316. The brooch we offer you today is a light yellow crossed with gold tone lines with painted blue flowers & green foliage at top and bottom. This unique brooch measures 2 1/4" tall x 1 1/2 wide" and stands 3/4" high from the surface. There is a fleck in the yellow enamel toward the center, and a bit of peppering, most of which you need a loupe to see. Very Good condition. Signed WEISS(c) in an oval in back. $75 |
