Vintage Coro Rhinestone Chrysanthemum Brooch

For you today is a Coro popular classic book piece brooch, circa 1960, featured on page 126 of Fifty Years of Collectible Fashion Jewelry 1925-1975 by Lillian Baker. Three riveted layers include a gathering of stamens surrounded by a circle of silver plated pave rhinestone petals, which still wink and sparkle. The largest layer is a wild array of brushed gold tone petals. This is a big beauty at 2 1/2" in diameter and standing 3/4" from the pin stem. Signed in the back (c)CORO. Excellent condition, with bright rhinestones and intact finish. Wear this classy piece anywhere. $45

Victorian Hand Painted Porcelain Mourning Brooch with Roses

For your consideration, an unusual, rare brooch from the turn of the century. For the ladies who painted these porcelains, pink roses meant friendship. With the black background, this pin might have been mourning for a dear friend, a poignant reminder to our modern age that loss came more frequently and often earlier to our great grandmothers. The brooch is all hand painted, with the pink roses blooming out of a matt black background, and at the side a lily of the valley, which meant sweetness, and perhaps return to happiness. It may have been a gift to a lady who had lost a dear one. There is an intact painted golden band framing the porcelain. The wonderful brooch measures 1 3/4" and is prong set into a brass finding equipped with a very early safety clasp. I've left the brass unpolished, so there is still the outline of an old price sticker. Still condition is Very Good++. Give or enjoy for yourself this irreplaceable antique brooch. $68

Antique Intaglio Hand Painted Thistle Brooch

Circa 1900. Here's an unusual jewel; the gilded bezel and glass intaglio within are diamond shaped. The reverse carved thistle is painted russet with green leaves. In Victorian times, the thistle was a Scottish wedding symbol, representing strength, protection, and healing. This precious pin is 1 7/8" with the bezel being 3/16" wide. It has a riveted hinge and closes with an open C clasp. Very good condition, with some tarnish and wear on the gilding, as can be expected. Enjoy this unusual sweetheart! $45

A&Z Hand Painted, Gold Filled and Genuine Pearl Lady Portrait Brooch

For you today is a wonderful, rare find! This jewel is NOT Carl Art; it is rare because, while it is similar to the Carl Art brooches, it is signed A&Z and is made with real pearls! This exquisite little portrait offers a  gold filled frame, studded with genuine pearls, probably cultured. The portrait is covered in clear celluloid, and the transfer has hand painted overlay, accenting white on the lady's dress, her pearls, her head piece, and her eyebrows and  Do you love the colors? The transfer is very good and, while I found the little dots transfers leave on the lady, the background is so smooth I wonder if it is hand washed; I could not find even under magnification, the little dots. This delightful jewel is signed in back A&Z 1/20 12K GF. The writing is so tiny I could barely  make it out with a 5x loupe. The brooch is a bit over 1 1/2" tall and a bit over 1 1/4" wide.  It could have been made any time from the 1940s through the 1960s. Enjoy this great collectible jewel! Condition is very good. $65

Pretty Little Dome Shaped Tawny Topaz Green Chunky Rhinestone Brooch

Bright and beautiful with all dog-tooth set stones--bright siam AB rhinestones along with dark and light topaz with pine green stones to accent. A lovely example of vintage rhinestone jewelry, probably from the late 1950s or early 1960s All in goldtone with barely any wear--Excellent condition. Buy now for your favorite redhead! $32

Vintage Rhinestone Icy Crescent Honey Moon & Flower

Pretty little crescent moon or what used to be called "honeymoon" with flower inside it. All in lovely diamante, prong set in rhodium and sparkling busily.  I thought it might be Juliana because of all the eyelets in back, plus some stones are set open back, but am unsure. A few stones are  peppered and starting to look gray, but still nice for that awesome vintage look.  You can wear this 1 1/2" brooch in other ways besides a pin, including a headband decoration, or lock the clasp and string a chain through to wear it as a pendant. You can't go wrong with this versatile vintage jewel!  Very Good condition.  $24

Rare Karu Arke Retro Rhinestone Brooch Gold Filled Cutwork Brooch/Pendant.

This is the first Retro style I've seen from Karu. This is a classic,  beautifully curled, post WWII retro style with gold tone pierce work, and swept into ribbon curls. In my pictures, the square rhinestones look blue, but they are not, they are dazzling clear! The round stones are aqua. All stones are prong set with open backs, and the piece offers both a pin mechanism and a hook put on a chain if desired. Measurement is 2 1/4" tall x 1 3/4" wide. Condition is Very Good! Signed in back Karu.  $35
